Bringing Corno’s Bold Portraits into Motion
Softmotion collaborated with renowned Canadian artist Joanne Corneau, known as Corno, to reimagine her large-scale portraits in the lenticular medium. The result was a vibrant, multidimensional exploration of her signature bold textures, dynamic movement, and vivid color that gave her post-pop, neo-expressionist style a new sense of depth and interaction.
Corno was celebrated internationally for her expansive works featuring female faces and bodies, blending abstract and figurative elements in a style often compared to Andy Warhol. Her paintings radiated energy, with sweeping gestures and saturated hues that commanded attention in any space.
Shortly before her passing in 2016, Softmotion worked closely with Corno to explore how lenticular printing could enhance her work. By layering her vibrant brushstrokes into lenticular lenses, we created a shifting visual experience where each step altered the viewer’s perspective and added a new dimension to her already dynamic compositions.
This fine art project stands as a testament to Corno’s fearless creativity and the unique ability of lenticular printing to preserve and amplify an artist’s vision, allowing audiences to engage with her work in an entirely new way.
